Songfacts®:

  • Weinland frontman Adam Shearer told us about this song:
Going in to record Breaks In The Sun Weinland only had one song that we felt was entirely finished ("I'm Sure It Helps": even though we changed it quite a bit while recording). This lack of material was really freaking me out. So my buddy Adam Selzer (Norfolk and Western, M.Ward) planned a songwriting retreat. We went to his special lady friend's family beach house to write a bunch of hits. We rented several music documentaries and brought along the proper supplies to spark inspiration. We spent the better part of a week focusing on creating new music through the appreciation of older stuff... "Hardly Worth Saving" is the ONLY song that came out of that trip! Written on the rickety porch of an Oregon beach house, it is the only tangible result of a week's worth of planned inspiration! This comes as no surprise as I feel like most of the good songs I write come out of moments of spontaneous inspiration. Sometimes it seems like the more I toil over something, the less inspired it becomes. (Weinland's website is weinlandmusic.com)
