Songfacts®:

  • On October 19, 2011, Westlife officially announced they were splitting after an album and a tour. Just under eight years later it was reported that the group has been signed to Universal Music Group for a new five-year album and tour deal with Virgin EMI Records. "Hello My Love" is Westlife's first single following their reunion.
  • The song was specifically written for Westlife by superstar hitmakers Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac months before the group announced their reunion in early October 2018. The uptempo ballad finds Westlife evolving their sound. It features the band's trademark vocals and harmonies but with more dance elements.
  • Lyrically, this finds Westlife telling their lover how lucky they feel. They've been searching most of their lives for someone like her but now they've "found someone with all the boxes" that they want ticked.
  • Westlife debuted the song on the January 11, 2019 episode of The Graham Norton Show. It was their first performance together in over six years.
  • The video, which sees the boys wandering around a barren landscape, was shot on Joshua Tree, California.
