Songfacts®:

  • This Leon Russell tune is the only cover on Whitney Houston's seventh album, I Look to You.
  • Donny Hathaway recorded the best known version of this soul ballad on his self-titled 1971 album. However Stargate, who produced Whitney's cover, transformed it into an upbeat disco number.
  • This was recorded only the night before the listening party for the unveiling of I Look to You. Executive producer Clive Davis explained to the audience before playing it: "We wanted to include something that would be a fun throwback, honoring all that Whitney's been."
  • Other artists who have covered this song include Ray Charles and the 2007 X Factor winner Leon Jackson.
