Songfacts®:

  • Written and originally recorded by Scottish singer Annie Lennox as the B-side to her 1992 single "Precious," this song was covered by Whitney Houston four years later with the addition of some new lyrics. Houston's version served as the second single from her 1996 soundtrack album for The Preacher's Wife. Lennox also provided uncredited background vocals for Houston's rendition.
  • British producer Stephen Lipson manned the boards on Houston's version. He admitted to UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph June 20, 2012 that the experience of working with the American diva was "a complete nightmare." "She turned up two and half weeks late, which is quite late, all things considered," he said. "And didn't learn the song. Then refused to sing it, encouraged by her then husband, who decided he didn't like the song. The whole thing was a complete nightmare, actually. But I got something."
