Songfacts®:

  • Will Powers was actually a female: rock photographer Lynn Goldsmith. She used a vocoder to sound male. "Kissing With Confidence" was her only UK hit.
  • This disco tune, which poked fun at self-help gurus, was co-written with Chic's Nile Rodgers, Steve Winwood, Carly Simon collaborator Jacob Brackman, and Todd Rundgren.
  • This featured uncredited vocals by Carly Simon. A few years before this song was recorded, Powers did an album cover for Simon so she was returning the compliment.
