Songfacts®:

  • This piano ballad finds Will Young singing of regret and loss. The singer's previous album, 2011's Echoes, included a track "I Just Want A Lover." Digital Spy asked Young what happened to him in between the two records? "Obviously things have changed," he replied. "'I Just Want A Lover' was literally me just feeling very horny that day and maybe had a little black book of friends."

"But this song has come in which is so different, and I suppose maybe I am a different person," Young continued. "It's sort of the only ballad on the album, but it's an unashamed ballad. A proper pop ballad all the way."
