Songfacts®:

  • Played as "The Jam" at Wolf Alice's 2014 live shows, this is an ode to the city of London. Vocalist Ellie Rowsell said, "It's a song to dance to, but also a song to lose your s--t to."
  • The tongue-in-cheek, mockumentary-style music video sees Wolf Alice rebel against a bad manager, played by The Thick of It's Tony Gardner. The clip also features a cameo from Ewen Macintosh, best known for playing Keith Bishop in the original UK version of The Office. "It's almost a sequel to our video 'Fluffy' and a look in to the future of Wolf Alice," said Rowsell, "featuring lots of leather, hip thrusting, murder and a very naughty manager."
  • Ellie Rowsell explained during a track-by-track with Tonedeaf.com: "We made this one in a rehearsal room, it was called 'The Jam' for ages 'cause that's what we wanted a jammy song. We thought that was missing from our live set - something fancy, something groovy, and yeah just a bit less 'verse, chorus verse chorus'. It's a mishmash of old ideas."
  • This won Best Track at the NME Awards 2016. Wolf Alice also received the accolade for Best Live Band at the same ceremony.
