Songfacts®:

  • "No Hard Feelings" is a delicate breakup song where Ellie Rowsell tackles her feelings following a split. Rather than tormenting herself with her heartbreak, the singer decides there's no point in being miserable about it.

Losing your love has been hard enough
Life can be short, but life can be sweet
    No hard feelings, honey
    The next time we meet
  • "No Hard Feelings" started off as a short intro to a heavy rock song. Wolf Alice realized they liked the funny little intro more than the rest of the track, so Rowsell tried to flesh it out with more lyrics. Eventually she decided everything she'd wanted to say was already there, so rather than ruining it by padding it out with more words, they slowed it down. "The first time we played in this formation it made me cry," Rowsell told Apple Music. "Which isn't hard, to be honest, but felt like a good indicator that we'd found the right way to play it."
  • Released as the third single from Blue Weekend, the fragile tune is a contrast to Wolf Alice's previous single, the energetic rock track "Smile."
