Songfacts®:

  • As with much rap, "Meet The Flockers" is laden with profanity; in sentiment it is similar to Ice Cube's "Black Korea," although YG was only two years old when that was recorded. It begins:

    First, you find a house and scope it out
    Find a Chinese neighborhood, 'cause they don't believe in bank accounts
    Second, you find a crew and a driver, someone who ring the doorbell
    And someone that ain't scared to do what it do;
    Third, you pull up at the spot
    Park, watch, ring the doorbell and knock
    Four, make sure nobody's home (door knocking sound effects)
    They gone, okay it's on
    Don't be scared ni--a, you in now

    Unfortunately, a gang of small-time criminals in Atlanta took it literally, and it cost one of them his life. At 4 a.m. on September 23, 2016, three men burgled the home of Chinese-American shopkeeper Chen Fengzhu. After dialling 911 she confronted the armed trio and shot dead the 28-year-old Henriques Antonio. YG's song is widely acknowledged as the inspiration for the burglary - which was all caught on video - and at least one person started a petition to have it removed from YouTube. >>>

  • In the wake of a surge in violence against Asian-Americans in the US in March 2021, some of YouTube's own staff asked them to remove the video. Despite the lyrics violating the company's wider policies on hate speech and the promotion of violence, they declined to take it down. The reason YouTube gave was they feared setting a precedent that would force them to take down a lot of other music.

    The song did disappear from YouTube a few days later. Its removal coincided with some streaming sites, including Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes, taking down My Krazy Life from their platforms.

    My Krazy Life later returned to streaming services after the lyric "Chinese neighborhoods" was removed.
