Songfacts®:

  • Osiris Williams is a Jacksonville, Florida-based rapper and R&B vocalist, whose parents named him after the Egyptian god. He was nicknamed YK, for "Young King," by his teacher and adopted the performing name of YK Osiris.

Williams first broke out in 2018 when his songs "I'm Next (Freestyle)" and "Valentine" went viral on YouTube and earned him a contract with Def Jam.
  • This song was Osiris' first Hot 100 entry. It first him singing about a girl to whom he would give the world.

I would give you the world, baby girl
You just gotta be worth it
    You don't gotta be perfect
You just gotta be worth it

Osiris told Genius he's not singing about any specific girl, but it was just something that he free-styled "from the heart."

He added it was just something that girls can "relate to, 'cause every girl, they worth it, you know? They ain't perfect but they worth it. A lot girls got to understand that."
  • YK Osiris freestyled "Worth It" in the space of just half an hour in the booth.
  • The song's sweet sentiments come from Osiris having six sisters, which helped him to understand how the ladies feel. He told Billboard:

"A lot of girls don't know their worth, a lot of girls think it's about money and it's about looks, and it's not. It's about you being worth it and not being the girl you're supposed to be, but the girl that you are. You don't have to be flashy or sexy. Just be you."
