Songfacts®:

  • This Rap/Rock hybrid is an one-off single by the British Pop-Punk band You Me at Six. Drummer Dan Flint told fans via his Twitter page that "'Rescue Me' is not on the new album, just a random one-off thing we did for a laugh."
  • The song features vocals from Chiddy, who is one half of American Hip Hop crew Chiddy Bang. Vocalist Josh Franceschi told Whitehaven Guide Magazine how the collaboration came about: "We were sitting around really bored, as we were waiting to go on tour and our label asked us if we wanted to just go mess around in the studio with this guy that is town at the moment. We were like 'yeah!' We went down and we wrote a song with our producer, our label really liked it and they got us a rapper from our label, a guy called Chiddy and it just went from there and now we are releasing it; so that's pretty much how it all happened."
  • Guitarist Max Helyer told Resonance UK about the song's recording process: "We weren't there when he (Chiddy) recorded his bits, we had a song structure what we thought would be cool to use and sent him a rough idea of it over and he was keen. So we recorded our parts of the song in North London with Matthew Lawrence and spent 2 days getting the track nailed down so we could send it over to him. Once we got the track back with Chiddy's parts on we were happy to hear the finish product. It was a totally different experience for us recording like that."
