Songfacts®:

  • "Money" is a trap-fused collaboration that brings together Young Thug, Juice WRLD, and Nicki Minaj. Thugger, no stranger to flaunting his wealth, dives into the braggadocios world of money. Juice's verse, recorded before his untimely death, focuses on giving his enemies a serious warning. Minaj flexes hard on her appearance, style, and seductive appeal before dropping a few bars about her stacks of cash.
  • Juice WRLD and Thugga laid down their verses before Juice's tragic passing on December 8, 2019. Fast forward two and a half years later, Young Thug found himself jailed on RICO charges, putting a halt to his flex game. Back in the day, Thug was living large, bragging about his slick "Monte Carlo" ride, rocking "Cartier bangles," stacking up that blue cash, and shining with "Tropicana diamonds."
  • The track leaked on February 29, 2020, with only Juice WRLD and Young Thug's parts. But it found its way as a bonus track on Young Thug's 2023 deluxe album Business Is Business (Metro's Version) with a verse from Nicki Minaj as well. Metro's Version is named after its executive producer (and longtime Thug collaborator), Metro Boomin.
  • After being arrested in May 2022, Young Thug was locked up tight in Fulton County Jail, denied bond time and time again. During her verse, Minaj takes a moment to plead for Thug's release from the slammer while he awaits his trial.
  • Young Thug, Juice WRLD, and Nicki Minaj have collaborated many times throughout their careers, but this marks the first time both Juice and Minaj have brought their magic to the same track.
  • That voice you hear at the beginning? It's none other than Eric Idle from Monty Python. It's a sample of "Money Song" off the British comedy group's album 1972 Monty Python's Previous Record.
  • Charlie Heat created the beat. New Jersey producer Heat has worked with a wide array of artists, including Kanye West ("Facts," "Famous," "Champions"), Madonna ("Holy Water") and Kehlani ("Undercover").
