Songfacts®:

  • This track about gun control was sparked by Yungblud's bafflement that in America it's easier for people to purchase an assault rifle than buy a beer. He told NME:

"I'm not even American (he's British), but for the sake of humanity, something has got to change. People are going to say, 'Oh god, this song is really uncomfortable', and good, because you know what is uncomfortable? Being 16 years old and someone walking into your school with a f---ing shotgun or assault rifle. I want people to be at my show to bounce around, but also because we all see a better future."
  • The song was released as a single in 2017 when Yungblud was just starting out; it appeared on his debut album, 21st Century Liability, a year later.

Before assuming the name Yungblud, he performed under his real name, Dominic Harrison, and shied away from politically charged songs like this one. He had an epiphany after re-evaluating his career path and deciding to express himself as freely and loudly as possible.
