Songfacts®:

  • When Zara Larsson fell in love with her dancer friend Lamin Holmen, she knew she had a lot to lose if it all went wrong. The Swede wrote this sassy song about finding she had feelings for a close pal ("PPP" stands for "falling for a friend").

"It's something I'd never experienced," Larsson told The Sun. "Before, I'm very much like, 'Go and sleep with him on the first date.' But this was the opposite. I already knew I really liked him as a person and that meant it was a lot to lose if things didn't go as planned. I didn't want to lose him as a friend."
  • Larsson wrote with US songwriters Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter in Los Angeles the same week that they penned "Love Me Land." Both songs were inspired by her falling crazily in love with Lamin Holmen.
  • Ian Kirkpatrick produced the track. A longtime Julia Michaels collaborator, his other credits include Dua Lipa's "New Rules" and "Don't Start Now," and Selena Gomez' "Look at Her Now."
  • This was one of the last songs that Larsson recorded for Poster Girl. The Swede wrote much of the record after a breakup from a longtime volatile relationship and the start of her new romance with Holman.
