Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Zedd linking again with "Clarity" co-writer Matthew Koma, who provided vocals on another track, "Spectrum." This time Koma shares the singing duties with Swedish vocal powerhouse, Miriam Byrant, whom Zedd first heard on German radio. They previously worked together when the German DJ made a remix of her song "Push Play" for the deluxe edition of his Clarity album.
  • Speaking on Vice's Thump channel, Zedd said this is a very different tune from any that he'd done before. He added: "It's a song you could easily play with a full band instead of just a DJ."
  • Zedd debuted a 15-second snippet of this song during the January 26, 2014 Grammy's music awards show. He performed the entire song live for the first time with Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant during the February 3, 2014 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
  • The song can be heard during Bud Light Platinum's Turn Up Your Night campaign, which aired for the first time during the 2014 Super Bowl.
  • The song featured on the soundtrack of the futuristic action-adventure film Divergent.
  • Zedd told MTV News about the collaboration: "When we started working on this song we worked together [and went] into the studio once and everyone wrote a little part and sang that part," he said, "and I loved the idea of having both on the song."

Bryant added: "The lyrics that I wrote for this song are literally about my best friend. She's a dancer. [It's] sort of like a friendship love story for me."
  • The special effects-filled video features Zedd, Miriam Bryant and Matthew Koma performing their parts as well as a storyline of a pair of lovers on the run from a mysterious villain. Much of it was shot in front of a green screen with Zedd at his keyboard on a rotating platform. "It's ... very similar to the way I approach my live shows," the EDM star told MTV News. "I'm usually in the middle of a big image which is visuals and impression that you get, surreal stuff and beautiful colors."
