Songfacts®:

  • Zombie Nation is German DJ and producer Florian Senfter, who goes by the alias of "Spank" and until 1999 Emanuel Guenther (aka Mooner). The first Zombie Nation release was an EP, which contained this electronic dance classic. The song proved very popular, charting high all around the world.
  • The song's title is German for "Atomic Energy 400." Senfter told USA Today that if he knew it would be so popular, "I would have chosen a friendlier name."
  • The song's hook came from a tune that was originally part of a 1984 Commodore 64 game called Lazy Jones. The man behind the original song was David Whittaker, who wrote many of the tunes that can be heard in 1980's and early '90s computer games.
  • This was released several times as a remix during 1999 and 2000. One of them, the "Sport Chant Remix" has become popular at American sporting events, especially during "hot timeouts." The phrase refers to when the home team has gone on a run of accumulating points, forcing the other team to call a timeout.
  • This undead dance monster featured in the 2004 movie Shaun of the Dead.
