  • Schlitz was the top brewery in America for much of the early 1900s. The company's slogan was, "The beer that made Milwaukee famous."

Milwaukee is a long way from the UK, both geographically and culturally, but the song is better known there thanks to Rod Stewart's 1972 version. A little odd that a song with an American city in the title based on a beer slogan is far more popular across the pond. It's hard to imagine a song about Newcastle taking off in the US, although "The Other Side of Dark" would make a cool song title.

  • La Zalewski from Pittsburgh, PaAlways thought this was an interesting choice for Rod to cover. Basically a Country tune and didn't even know he was aware of that genre.
