  • Half past twelve
And I'm watchin' the late show in my flat, all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
    Autumn winds
Blowin' outside the window as I look around the room
And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom

There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

    Movie stars
Find the end of the rainbow with a fortune to win
It's so different from the world I'm living in
    Tired of TV
I open the window and I gaze into the night
But there's nothing there to see, no one in sight

There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight

There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer

Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase these shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight

  • Kikki from SwedenI’ve always heard this song in the perspective of someone craving a relation, someone wanting more than sex, hence “midnight”. Basically, give me a man that can give me more than sex at midnight. An iconic piece.
  • Ldnmadz72 from LondonWell Madonna should of asked Benjamin Sueb as he owned the original sample. In his 1978 song Bul Bul, ABBA had no right saying no. They stole it.
  • Frank Moebius from Port Charlotte, Fla.One of the Best groups Ever.......wow
  • A from AustraliaM from Seattle... talk about reading more into it than there is. LOL.
  • M from SeattleDid nobody get (in the 80s mind you) this song was about scoring drugs in the wee hours?
  • Melinda from AustraliaThis is the best ABBA song. EVER. The intro gets me every time. When I heard Madonnas song Hung Up I knew immediately she’s nicked the intro from this ABBA song . But I also at first I thought it was Giorgio Moroda. The Italian DJ, record producer and singer. The intro certainly sounds like his touch. But I don’t think he was involved in this song. Donna Summer songs had his involvement. And lots of others in the 1970’s.
  • Luke from Manchester, UkDon - San Antonio
If you do not think this is music, I pity you.
  • Kent from Greensburg, PaI always thought the synthesizer sounded like something from a video game.
  • Paula from Laredo, TxIf you like housecleaning, which I don't, this song makes it bearable. I love ABBA!
  • Shamomo Apolo Onono from Liverpool, OhThis is one of my favorite ABBA songs ever!
  • Patrickman from Makati City, Otherthis song contains one of the most hypnotic bass line ever!
  • Don from San Antonio, TxI don't think this IS music...can someone straighten me out on this? And watching those guys sing backup (ABBA Live) on this particuler track is disturbing.
  • Guy from Woodinville, WaHa, I think many Madonna fans who would probably belittle ABBA music would be enlightened to learn that Madonna "begged ABBA for permission" and how much she liked their music.
