  • I love the dead before they're cold
They're bluing flesh for me to hold
Cadaver eyes upon me see nothing
I love the dead before they rise

    No farewells, no goodbyes
I never knew your rotting face
While friends and lovers mourn your silly grave
I have other uses for you, Darling

    We love the dead
We love the dead, Yeah Writer/s: ALICE COOPER, BOB EZRIN

  • D.p. from UsaAlice was my first ROCK concert in 77-78, Lace & Whiskey Tour, and I’ve seen him 8 to 10 times since.
The words, although creepy as hell, are hilarious. “While friends & lovers mourn your silly grave…, I have other uses for you darling.” First time I heard that I laughed my ass off.
They usually sing the chorus while setting up for his death scene, and all the true fans in the audience join in.
Keep rockin Alice, we love ya!

  • Balice Stewart from Hitchcock Texas My favorite band 52 years old
  • Dan from Coeur D'alene, IdLiquid Len, this is not a song about loving the Grateful Dead. It is literally a song about necrophilia. Listen very carefully to the lyrics or read them online. No reference the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia or Bob Wier.
  • Mike from Atlanta, GaAlice pays for his sins by having his head cut off! The community elders in the towns that had him banned never waited to see the "morality play"! Mike
  • Lester from New York City, NyMan, I'm a BIG FAN of Alice Cooper. Saw him about 6 months ago (Feb. '07). He always puts on a great show.
  • Liquid Len from Ottawa, CanadaHe means he loves the Grateful Dead, I think.
  • Chrissy from Long Island, NyVery creepy song, but I still love it.
