  • Sometimes
    I wish I was brave
    I wish I was stronger
I wish I could feel no pain
    I wish I was young
    I wish I was shy
    I wish I was honest
    I wish I was you not I

    'Cause
    I feel so mad
    I feel so angry
    I feel so calloused
    So lost, confused, just mad
    I feel so cheap
    So used, unfaithful
    Let's start over
    Let's start over

    Sometimes
    I wish I was smart
I wish I made cures for
    How people are
    I wish I had power
    I wish I could leave
I wish I could change the world
    For you and me

    'Cause
    I feel so mad
    I feel so angry
    I feel so calloused
    So lost, confused, just mad
    I feel so cheap
    So used, unfaithful
    Let's start over
    Let's start over

    'Cause
    I feel so mad
    I feel so angry
    I feel so calloused
    So lost, confused, just mad
    I feel so cheap
    So used, unfaithful
    Let's start over
    Let's start over

    I feel so mad
    I feel so angry
    I feel so calloused
    So lost, confused, just mad
    I feel so cheap
    So used, unfaithful
    Let's start over
    Let's start over

  • Marianne from Kimberley,I like how the word 'calloused' is used. It's a very clever simile! Awesome song and so true to most of our lives at some point or another.
  • Stephanie from Omaha, NeI just think that this song is about someone who feels so insignificant in the world; whether it be with the government, social life, family, etc. He feels like he can't break the chain/cycle and he feels so cheated that he can't make a difference.
  • J-dog from Madison, WiAwsome song! Thats all i need to say
  • Alex from Loveland, CoI really like this song. I can sort of relate to it. Sometimes it's a bit hard to tell what exactly Tom is saying because of the way he sings. Am I the only one who thinks he sounds a bit congested when he sings? I do love his voice, but yah. I wonder if he does it on purpose, because if you've ever heard him talk, you wouldn't think he sings that way. I found out recently that I thought I hated this kind of music for a long time, but then realized I heard this song as a kid and loved it! Also, when I was in fifth grade, my buddy came to school with a mix CD with the Blink-182 song Feeling This and I loved it too, but thought I hated that kind of Alternative music! lol, now it's almost the only kind of music i listen to!
  • Violet from Baltimore, Mdthis sounds like someone is confused and they feel small and insignificant. They wish they could change things and make a difference but don't know how and don't think they can. I like the lyrics to this because at some point everyone can relate to them. The end of the song (lets start over) i guess is saying he just wants to go back and try again and fix things-change the world.
  • Jack from Hemel, EnglandYeah, I think it's jus' about his life, how he feels angry one moment, and upset the next. I think when he says " i wish i was him not I" he means, He wishes his life was more like someone elses as he thinks this other persons life is better. This is a brilliant song
  • Mattyb from The Burg, Mdi don't think this song is about a girl as much as it is the author's frustration at the world. He feels useless in the big world and just wants to start over. I think this frustration shown in the emotion of the song is what makes this song so good.
  • Y from Poop, Canadai feel so pee pee
  • Eric from Springfield, Mopossibly about being mad that he lost his girlfirend? cause he says I wish I were him not I, and later in the album he keeps talkin bout love, etc.
  • Danica from Cairns, AustraliaIn one aspect, I think this song's about a guy who breaks up with his girlfriend because of something he did wrong, like cheating ("feel so cheap, so used, unfaithful - let's start over..."), and he is just pouring out his feelings about the world and how he wants to be all these things ("Sometimes I wish I was brave, I wish I was stronger, wish I could feel no pain etc") just so he can make it all up to her. He's also saying to her how angry and depressed he feels (related or un-related to the break up) and how he feels like they could just switch places ("I wish I was you, not I") so she could know how he feels about her and life, cos he truly wants her to know how hard he is trying to change the world for her, even though he is feeling all these other emotions inside of him.
  • Collin from Colorado Springs, CtTom DeLonge is a great thinker for songs because of his gigantic head..hehe j/k
  • Becca from Sacramento, CaThis song was very popular when it first came out. Travis Barker is such an awesome drummer. His drum fills always seem to surprise me because they are so amazing. I love this song!
