  • Well It's Saturday night
You're all dressed up in blue
    I been watching you awhile
Maybe you been watching me too
    So somebody ran out
Left somebody's heart in a mess
Well if you're looking for love
Honey I'm tougher than the rest

Some girls they want a handsome Dan
Or some good-lookin' Joe on their arm
Some girls like a sweet-talkin' Romeo
    Well 'round here baby
I learned you get what you can get
So if you're rough enough for love
Honey I'm tougher than the rest

    The road is dark
And it's a thin thin line
But I want you to know I'll walk it for you any time
    Maybe your other boyfriends
    Couldn't pass the test
Well if you're rough and ready for love
Honey I'm tougher than the rest

    Well it ain't no secret
I've been around a time or two
Well I don't know baby maybe you've been around too
    Well there's another dance
All you gotta do is say yes
And if you're rough and ready for love
Honey I'm tougher than the rest
If you're rough enough for love
Baby I'm tougher than the rest Writer/s: BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

  • AnonymousMan, You can see the love in that girl Patti’s eyes. Wonderful.
  • Houndunderground from CroatiaAmazing song. I have rediscovered it while listening to old stuff and The Boss was among them. It is heartbreaking, ominous, serene, nostalgic, cautious, yet so unpretentious. I believe it is one of the songs that has a terrific effect on me, after so many years. As I watch different versions through the years, I realize that the song gets better and better, it grows with the layer of years and experiences. Top
  • AnonymousAlso slow version by Scottish indie band Camera Obscura
  • Jim from Long Beach, CaWhen I first got Tunnel Of Love in '87 and heard this I knew he was in trouble with his marriage..
  • Julian from Oakland, ArChris LeDoux is the country singer you're referring to. Great version as well.
  • Tim from Springfield, IlThis is a song that gets better as I get older, the video is fantastic (which I hadn't seen til recently). Powerful lyrics...
  • Bruce from Johnstown, PaCovered by a country and western singer. I forget the name but it fit with the bullrider image.
  • Matthew from Milford, MaIt's still a good song, though!
  • Matthew from Milford, Ma...Darn, I was expecting a more energetic beat...
  • Dave from San Antonio, TxBruce can write about love without being all whiny. If only all young dudes would listen to this things would go a lot smoother with their relationships. It take a MAN to handle all that gets thrown at you. HONEST SONG!
  • Josh from Terre Haute, InWhat a song. "Maybe your other boyfriends couldn't pass the test" what a line, and it hit home with so many of my relationships when I was younger. Chimes of Freedom album has a great live version on there.
  • Roy from Bergen, NorwayThis song was the best pick up line the world has ever seen. Try watching an old concert video and have a look at the looks Bruce sends Patti while doing this song!
  • Kyle from Belleville, CanadaA Beautiful love song, one of the few love songs I actually like.
