  • I may be just a foolish dreamer
    But I don't care
'Cause I know my happiness is waiting
    Out there somewhere

I'm searching for that silver lining
    Horizons that I've never seen
Whoa, I'd like to take just a moment
And dream my dreams, oh dream my dream

    Whoa, whoa, zoom
I'd like to fly far away from here
Where my mind, oh Lord, is fresh and clear
And I'd find the love that I long to see
Where everybody can be what they wanna be

Whoa, I like to greet the sun each morning
And walk amongst the stars at night
I'd like to know the taste of honey in my life
    In my life
Well, I've shared so many pains
And I played so many games
Ah, but everyone finds the right way
    Somehow, somewhere, someday

Whoa, zoom, I'd like to fly far away from here
Where my mind can see fresh and clear
And I'll find the love that I long to see (ooh)
People can be what they wanna be

Woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo
Whoa, I wish the world were truly happy
    Living as one
I wish the word they call freedom
Someday would come, someday would come

Whoa, zoom, I'd like to fly far away from here
Where my mind can be fresh and clear
And I'd find the love that I long to see
Everybody can be, what they wanna be

    Hey, yeah, hey, baby
    Woo

Ah, zoom, zoom, baby, I'd like to fly away
(Well, I like to fly away) zoom, zoom
(well, I like to fly away) zoom
Zoom, baby, I like (zoom) to fly away
Well, I like to fly away, zoom, zoom
(well, I like to fly away) zoom
Zoom, baby, I like to fly away
Well, I like to fly away, zoom, zoom
(well, I like to fly away) zoom
    Zoom, baby
Zoom, I, baby (zoom, zoom) baby, zoom
You and me baby, wild and free
Don't you wanna go (zoom, zoom) don't you wanna go (zoom)
Baby, baby, baby (zoom, zoom) yeah, zoom
(Don't you wanna go, don't you wanna go) Writer/s: Lionel Richie, Ronald Lapread

  • Robinj from Las Vegas NvI love this song to sing any time, for karaoke, road trips, or just breakout when you hear it somewhere. With all that's going on in this world, in life, you need the lyrics to just put you in a happy, positive vibe, then everything else is alright with no more problems..my favorite go to for peace, love,& joy! Live is best.
  • Chuck Nolen from Marianna, FloridaWhen I first heard Zoom on the Commodores 77 album, I was hooked on it. After all this time (45 years), the message, melody, and vocals/instrumentation, still have the same soothing effect on me. Also, knowing the story behind Zoom makes this song more special. Chuck~
  • Stacy J from Sylacauga, AlThis song brings out so many emotions in me. Very powerful words. Even my granddaughter age 7 loves this song and says it makes her think of many things.
  • Sabra B from Phoenix, AzI grew up listening to the commodores being a 70's baby. Zoom made me cry then and I had no clue why I just thought it was really pretty with the horns and birds. Now it means so much more and my husband plays it when he is stressed so I hear it constantly. Thank you ronald and cathy for giving us such beauty from tragedy.
  • JuanTo this day, I still love this song...now that I know that the words came from a real place, it means that much more to me. Out of tragic circumstances, they produced an enduring soul/pop classic.
  • Jerzee Rick from S Florida Loved this song as a kid, still do!
Looking forward to my Taste in my Life!
    Great back story, LuvYah Commodores!
  • Gdub520 from So Cal Members of the group have said this beautiful song was not released as a single because it was special to them for obvious reasons and they wanted you to buy the LP to get the song. I did hear it played on radio in L.A. even if it wasn't officially released
