  • I can tell by your eyes
That you've probably been cryin' forever
And the stars in the sky
Don't mean nothin' to you, they're a mirror

I don't wanna talk about it
    How you broke my heart
If I stay here just a little bit longer
If I stay here, won't you listen to my heart?
    Whoa, whoa, heart

    If I stand all alone
Will the shadow hide the color of my heart?
Blue for the tears, black for the nights we're apart
    And the stars
Don't mean nothin' to you, they're a mirror

I don't wanna talk about it
    How you broke my heart
If I stay here just a little bit longer
If I stay here, won't you listen to my heart?
    Whoa, whoa, heart
    My heart
    Whoa, whoa, heart

I don't wanna talk about it
    How you broke my heart
If I stay here just a little bit longer
If I stay here, won't you listen to my heart?
    Whoa, whoa, heart
    My heart
    Whoa, whoa, heart
    My heart
Whoa, whoa, heart Writer/s: Danny Whitten

  • Tully from Arlington, TexasI have always loved this song and will forever. I tend to favor Danny Whitten's original version and lyrics. IMHO Danny's 'Blue for the tears, Black for the nights we're apart' has much more meaning than Rod's 'Blue for the tears, Black for the night fears'.
  • Michael from Barrack Heights, AustraliaGreg of Edmonton Alberta. There is a tribute done by LittleRaggie on You Tube of Danny Singing this song. Goto www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1EDpaQ-1SI
  • Michael from Barrack Heights, AustraliaThis song had no input from Neil Young at all. The band was called Crazy Horse. The only input Neil Young had on this, their self titled debut album was a co-written song with Danny Whitten called Downtown and Dance Dance Dance, written solely by Young.
  • Greg from Edmonton, AbHas to be one of the best songs ever written. It's a shame that Danny isn't more widely known. I wish there was a video somewhere of Danny doing this song.
Look At All the Things and Carolay are also great. Thanks Danny we won't forget you...

Buy the Crazy Horse CD NOW!!!
  • Susan from Melvindale, MiI love this song. It touches my heart!!!
  • Walter from Antwerp, BelgiumExcept for contributing one or two songs, I believe Neil Young had nothing to do with Crazy Horse's first album, which included this gem. Nevertheless, Danny Whitten can be heard singing together with Neil on their joint effort 'Downtown' on 'Tonight's The Night', an album posthumously dedicated to Whitten.
