  • She wakes up early every morning
Just to do her hair now
    Because she cares, yeah
Her day, oh, wouldn't be right
    Without her makeup
    She's never without her makeup

She's just like you and me
    But she's homeless
    She's homeless
As she stands there singing for money

    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow
    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow
    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow
    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow
    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow

    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow
    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow
    La-da-dee, la-dee-dow

In my sleep, I see her begging
    Reaching, please
Although her body is not mine
    I ask her why
    God, why

She's just like you and me
    But she's homeless
    She's homeless
As she stands there singing for money

  • Aby from RomaniaAs a Romani, this is genuinely a strange and frustrating interview to read. Using the term "gypsy" ALONGSIDE refusing to accept us as an ethnicity (which strips us of our culture completely by doing so) is an extremely ignorant and unnecessarily discriminatory thing to do. We're called Romanis, or just "Romas," not gypsies. And, yes, we are our own ethnicity with our own culture and language. This is a good song but the title has forever given me a sour view on it. Also because naming a song talking about a homeless woman "Gypsy Woman" only reinforces our negative stereotypes about being always being dirt poor and homeless as well.
  • Ambassador Alice from HtownThat organ riff that runs throughout the song is so dope...totally east coast vibe...clubbin in Soho on weekends til 4AM...man....good times!
