  • What do you get when you fall in love?
A guy with a pin to burst your bubble
That's what you get for all your trouble
I'll never fall in love again
I'll never fall in love again

What do you get when you kiss a guy?
You get enough germs to catch pneumonia
After you do, he'll never phone ya
I'll never fall in love again
Dontcha know that I'll never fall in love again?

Don't tell me what it's all about
'Cause I've been there and I'm glad I'm out
Out of those chains, those chains that bind you
That is why I'm here to remind you

What do you get when you fall in love?
You only get lies and pain and sorrow
So far at least until tomorrow
I'll never fall in love again
No, no, I'll never fall in love again

Ahh, out of those chains, those chains that bind you
That is why I'm here to remind you

What do you get when you fall in love?
You only get lies and pain and sorrow
So far at least until tomorrow
I'll never fall in love again
Dontcha know that I'll never fall in love again
I'll never fall in love again Writer/s: Burt Bacharach, Hal David

  • Obvious Guy 2025 from La-la-land, CaHey! How come no one ever commented that Burt Bacharach himself sang this song in the Austin Powers movie, then performed it again, in Austin Powers 2, with Elvis Costello doing vocals and guitar?!!!
The reason it is so notable is because it relaunched an interest in this song, as well as the whole 90s samba nostalgia.

    It did for my group!
  • George from Vancouver BcUnusual for the era for such a sentiment/title not to end, in the lyrics, with her discovering she CAN fall in love again through some new insight/person.
  • Arthur Malkin from New JerseyThe song has an optional third verse which is in the Carpenters version. "You get enough tears to fill an ocean. That's what you get for your devotion." Another reason to never fall in love again!
  • Rabbi Meyer from Central WisconsinDeacon Blue covered this song on a four song EP of Bacharach covers - became their highest charting UK hit. I just found it on Amazon Music and it's great.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn March 21st 1971, Anne Murray performed "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" on the CBS-TV program 'The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour'...
She never released the song as a single; but the song was track four of side two on her 'Anne Murray Collection' album...
Eight years later on January 21st, 1979 her "I Just Fall in Love Again' entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 at position #57; ten weeks later on April 1st, 1979 it would peak #12 {for 2 weeks} and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100...
In her native Canada it would reach #1 on the Pop chart, Country chart, & Adult Contemporary chart, while in the U.S.A. it peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart and Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
Ms. Murray, born Morna Anne Murray, will celebrate her 70th birthday in three months on June 20th {2015}.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn February 1st 1970, "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" by Dionne Warwick peaked at #6 (for 1 week) on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; it had entered the chart on December 21st, 1969 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100...
And on the very same day it peaked at #6 on the Top 100 it peaked at #1 (for 3 weeks) on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
It reached #17 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart...
Co-composer of the song, Burt Bacharach, released his own version in June of 1969; it stayed on the Top 100 for 2 weeks, peaking at #92...
Ms. Warwick celebrated her 73rd birthday two months ago on December 12th (2013) and Mr. Bacharach will turn 86 years old come May 12th (2014).
  • Dave from Wheaton, IlActually, there was more than just guitar on it, at the end, there was flute accompaniment.
  • Camille from Toronto, OhDionne Warwick's voice is flawless when she sing this song. A classic.
  • Sara from Silver Spring, MdThe show starred the late Jerry Orbach of Law and Order fame. He was a good singer and joined Jill O'Hara who played his girlfriend in the show in singing it.
Warwick also recorded the title song during tryouts. I'm not sure who the song was originally intended for but Jerry Orbach's character (the nerd played by Jack Lemmon in the film who gives his boss his apartment key only to find out it is the washroom one!) ended up singing it as his 11:00 number.
The other two songs recorded by Warwick were Jill O'Hara's two solos.
