  • Who'll walk me down to church when I'm sixty years of age
When the ragged dog they gave me has been ten years in the grave
And senorita play guitar, play it just for you
My rosary has broken and my beads have all slipped through

You've hung up your great coat and you've laid down your gun
You know the war you fought in wasn't too much fun
And the future you're giving me holds nothing for a gun
I've no wish to be living sixty years on

Yes I'll sit with you and talk let your eyes relive again
I know my vintage prayers would be very much the same
And Magdelena plays the organ, plays it just for you
Your choral lamp that burns so low when you are passing through

And the future you're giving me holds nothing for a gun
I've no wish to be living sixty years on Writer/s: Bernie Taupin, Elton John

  • Mark Paull from Montréal Québec, Canada Among my favorite songs. I'd have loved to see this song by Freddie Mercury
  • Dennis from UsaThe Early Elton / Bernie songs are some of the finest songs ever written. The entire Elton John album is a masterwork of songwriting, poetry, production, orchestration, musicianship and of course singing. This song has always resonated deeply with me, the album as a whole does, but this has and remains a standout. Thank you Bernie and Elton for enriching my soul all of these almost "Sixty Years" on.
  • Eden Bebla from Palm Springs, CaWhen I Purchased the Black cover Album of Live concert in 1971 ....the sixty years on , was what I hum all the time for past 45 years, and on.
  • Adrian from Gettysburg, PaOne of the most hauntingly, beautiful songs in rock music.
