  • Wise men say
    Only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
    Shall I stay?
    Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you?

    Like a river flows
    Surely to the sea
    Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be

    Take my hand
    Take my whole life, too
For I can't help falling in love with you

    Like a river flows
    Surely to the sea
    Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be

    Take my hand
    Take my whole life, too
For I can't help falling in love with you
For I can't help falling in love with you Writer/s: George Weiss, Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore

  • Pat Davidson from AlabamaThis song was sung to me by my Husband on our First Date and 4 years later we were married.
I still love the song and remember all the words.
  • Jeff Waller from AlabamaThe theme from the 1949 movie entitled The Hieress, written by Aaron Copeland sounds amazingly similar. Perhaps we have uncovered a problem!

  • Bernard from LavalErratum: for Plaisir d'amour the 1st is an 8th note, and the others are quarter notes.
  • Bernard from LavalRod from Boise is right. It's not the same music at all. They don't sound the same. SheetMusic-Free.Com says it's based on it, but if you look at the sheet music for the 2 songs on that very site and compare them you see very easily that it's not the same music at all. Plaisir d'amour's 1st 4 notes are quarter note D, 8th note G, 8th note A, 8th note B, all in the middle octave; and this song's 1st 3 notes are D, G, and D, all whole notes in the treble octave.
  • Jennifur Sun from RamonaI too was surprised to find out that the song was almost left out of the film, same thing with Over The Rainbow. have never been able to discover the name of the band members in the movie, does anyone know. Yes Hal Blaine did the whole Blu Hawaii soundtrack. also found out that actress Angela Landsburry didn't really want to do the part of The mom in the film but needed the money-her pat was my favorite part of the picture.
  • Carl from TexasI love Elvis' I can't help falling in love. I've been singing church songs for 40+ yrs. I found this in my first secular karaoke attempt on a cruise in '14. There are a lot higher songs for me to try so with my old crooner style Bari/lead voice I thought I'd give it a go. I sang it two nites then. The crowd, even some Elvis tour ladies liked my smooth deep version. I dedicated first time on Valentine's Day for my wife there. I looked back after a verse & saw couples slow dancing while I finished. I thought I had arrived . Ha. I'm going to sing it again for some older ladies at a few nursing homes next week. I hope they enjoy it.

  • Rod from Boise, IdActually Joel, Weiss did write it. The French song you refer to does not have the same words, nor even the same music. Go back and listen to it. Martine is credited with performing the song that "Can't Help Falling In Love" was "adapted" from; that is not the same as writing "Can't Help Falling In Love". It was written by Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore.
  • Joel from Sdan Francisco , CaSorry Folks Elvis and Georges Weiss did not write that song and very far from it ,
The song come from a French Melody from Jean Paul Agide Martine 1741-1816 , it is called plaisir d'amour, if you prefer in English Love's pleasure.
  • Meocyber from Alma, Co This is Elvis very best love song, to me. Great, great lyrics , melody and vocals. UB40's version is respectfull and excellent.
  • Camille from Toronto, OhElvis's vocals on this are so deep, pure and the epitome of romance. The lyrics take you to that scary/exciting place of falling in love and being helpless to do a thing about it. Not WANTING to do a thing about it but allowing it to happen. UB40's remake/take on this--one of the all-time best remakes ever, breathless, brassy, incredible with a fabulous video to accompany it.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyAndy Williams' 1970 version hit No. 3 in the UK but only reached No. 88 in the U.S.A., Al Martino also released this song in 1970 and it peaked at No. 51!!!
  • Grant from Toowoomba,This song was used in the film "Fools Rush In" starring Matthew Perry (Chandler in Friends) & Selma Hayek. There's a great line where he says to her "You're everything I never knew I always wanted." Give it a look sometime.
  • Steve Dotstar from Los Angeles, Cathe song lent it self marvelously to an orchestral treatment, done by Billy Goldenberg on the'68 comeback special.....very nice, indeed!

    Steveo
  • Michael from Scranton, PaAlso covered by Lick the Tins which is a great version, maybe better than the King's. Featured in Some Kind of Wonderful and over the end credits of the brilliant film "The Snapper"
  • Dora from Doha, QatarBono did a cover of this song, which is really good!
  • Fulu Thompho from Limpopo, South Africai wonder if the song's titlle is literal or figurative
  • Richard from London, EnglandThis song took 29 takes to record it, and I've heard all of them! Elvis had difficulty getting his breathing right because of the slow tempo, but boy, did he nail it in the end!
  • Adrian from Kingston, CanadaPearl Jam did a live cover of this song. it is pretty good
  • Caitlin from Upper Township, NjThis is the song my parents danced to @ their wedding on June 24, 1989. They love it!
  • Jeff from Buffalo Grove, IlHeard this song in the theater, on a date, with a girl who would become my wife. This and Moon River are the songs we call ours. After 43 years of marriage we still are moved by these songs.
  • Denise from Kuala Lumpur, MaThis song was also used as a love theme for a recent Korean drama which is extremely popular all over Asia, My Lovely Sam Soon. The heroin of the show vows to learn to play this song well one day for her boyfriend which she eventually did. Really romantic and the lyrics of the song depicts how the heroin feels for her boyfriend.
  • Mona Lisa from Copenhagen, Denmarkhi pete nowra.
    her name is joan blackman
    -i think......
  • Ben from Tucson, AzThe We Five did an interesting cover of this.
  • Sigurbjörn from KeflavÃ?k, IcelandThe thing is also that the version sung in the film is not like the version most people know. It wasn´t until a couple a years a ago that a cd came out with outtakes and also movie versions of some songs and also Cant help falling in love with you.
  • Aj from Cleveland, GaA*Teens also covered this
  • Robert from Trumbull, CtThis has to be the most beautiful song Elvis ever recorded. It became the song for my wife and myself (our wedding song).
  • Neville from Perth, Western Australia, Australia: Joan Blackman was the actress. Also starred in Kid Galahad with Elvis. Neville L.
