  • Lately, I'm getting better
Wish I could stay sick with you
But there's too many egos left to bruise
Call it sin, you can call it whatever
    Eating deep inside of you
Well, if it were me, it's all I'd ever do

    Steal me now and forever
I'll steal something good for you
The criminal in me is no one new
    'Til you find something better
When there's nothing left to use
And everything starts going down on you

I'm the generator, firin' whenever you quit
    Yeah, whatever it is
You go out and it's on
Yeah, can't you hear my motored heart?
You're the one that started it

Send me out on a tether
Swing it 'round, I'll spin your noose
You let it down, I'll hang around with you
    'Til you find someone better
When there's no one left to use
    And everyone keeps going down

I'm the generator, firin' whenever you quit
    Yeah, whatever it is
You go out and it's on
Yeah, can't you hear my motored heart?
You're the one that started it

I'm the generator, firin' whenever you quit
    Yeah, whatever it is
You go out and it's on
Yeah, can't you hear my motored heart?
You're the one that started it

I'm the generator, I'm the generator
I'm the generator, I'm the generator
I'm the generator, I'm the generator
    You're on

Yeah, can't you hear my motored heart?
You're the one that started it Writer/s: David Eric Grohl, Nate Mendel, Oliver Taylor Hawkins

  • Aubrey from Indiana, UsI honestly think this song is about someone that doesn't have the same feelings as the person "singing." 'Steal me now and forever,' possibly meaning their love. 'Till you find something better. When there's nothing left to use. And everything starts going down on you,' this could mean that this person won't find someone better than them, or that they think the person they have feelings for will never love them. 'Yeah, can't you hear my motored heart? You're the one that started it,' the first person they've actually loved this much (which I completely understand). That they feel very differently for this person, they're the one who affected their heart in a different way than other little crushes.
(I love writing about songs and what I think they mean to me. I love the Foos so much and sometimes I can relate to what I think the song means.)
  • Adam from Centralia, Wanot my favorite by them, feels as though he wrote just to write, feels as though hes spaced out while singing it
  • Layton from Paris, TxThere is a video on youtube of Foo Fighters lip-syncing this. This song is also playing out of Dave Grohl's car when he is driving to pick up his date on the video for Breakout.
  • Timmy from Mukilteo, Waa pretty good song.
the begininning kinda has a pop feel to it
  • Tracy from Tulsa, OkThis song is about total dedication...even at your demise.
