"The ... train that inspired this song was a wood-burning steam locomotive ...that traveled from Cincinnati to Chattanooga - it was a newspaper reporter who dubbed it the "Chattanooga Choo Choo." That train ran on Mar. 8, 1880. The newspapers of both cities for Mar. 5-9 cover the event, but I did not see any Choo Choo reference.
