  • Woo, woo
    Woo, woo, woo, woo

    You can't run away forever
But there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start
You want to shut out the night
You want to shut down the sun
You want to shut away the pieces of a broken heart

Think of how we'd lay down together
We'd be listening to the radio, so loud and so strong
Every golden nugget coming like a gift of the gods
Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs

    I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
You've been through the fires of hell
And I know you've got the ashes to prove it

    I treasure your love
I want to show you how to use it
You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt
And I know you've got the scars to prove it (prove it)

Remember everything that I told you
And I'm telling you again that it's true
    When you're alone and afraid
    And you're completely amazed
To find there's nothing anybody can do

    Keep on believing
    And you'll discover, baby

There's always something magic (there's always something magic)
    There's always something new (new)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through

The beat is yours forever (The beat is yours forever)
The beat is always true (true)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through for you

Once upon a time was a backbeat
Once upon a time all the chords came to life
And the angels had guitars even before they had wings
If you hold onto a chorus, you can get through the night
    (Get through the night)

    I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
And you've been through the fires of hell
And I know you've got the ashes to prove it

    I treasure you love
I want to show you how to use it
You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt
And I know you've got the scars to prove it (prove it)

Remember everything that I told you
And I'm telling you again that it's true
You're never alone 'cause you can put on the phones
And let the drummer tell your heart what to do

    Keep on believing
    And you'll discover, baby

There's always something magic (there's always something magic)
    There's always something new (new)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through

The beat is yours forever (the beat is yours forever)
The beat is always true (true)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through
    Oh, for you, yeah, yeah

(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)

  • Kelly from OklahomaDavid from England, in response to your comment Meatloaf may of not written the song Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through but he Owned and Made that song because of his beautiful voice... Meatloaf had the most beautiful voice there ever will be.
  • Rob from Fredericton, NbTruly a great song that fits more of a pop-opera meets rock genre, if there is such a style of music. Essentially, that is what makes it so unique in comparison to other music. I seen Meat Loaf in concert at Parlee Beach in New Brunswick in 1993 upon the release of this album. Even being a scary looking guy, Meat Loaf created some real rhythmic songs that was very appealling to most.
  • Lefteris from Nea Smyrni, GreeceJim Steinman's original version of the song, features lead vocals by Canadian singer Rory Dodd who is also the backing vocalist on Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" (...turn around...)
  • Kristopher from Lenoir, NcNo Steinman did indeed right this song. But when Meat's voice went out Steinman wanted to go on with another project and Meat wasn't ready. So Steinman did the album himself. So therefore seeing how Steinman took Meat's songs for his new album he had to write Meat Loaf a new album. He did indeed trade..but not just one song an entire album. Thus Dead Ringer...which is a pretty good album by the way.
  • David from Grimsby, EnglandSorry Steinman wrote the song,Meat loaf did change it and added lyrics for his version but that doesnt make him the writer
  • Nicklas from Copenhagen, Denmarkthe fact ins't actually true. It was Meat Loaf himself who wrote this song. but he traded songs with Jim Steinman. Steinman got Rock and roll dreams, and in return Meat got the Dead Ringer for love. Meat Loaf states this on the dvd from Melbourne.
  • Gaz from NottinghamThe video starred a young Angelina Jolie.
