Heaven Help Us

  • Hear the sound
    The angels come screaming
    Down your voice
    I hear you've been bleeding

    Make your choice
    They say you've been pleading
    Someone save us

    Heaven help us now
    Come crashing down
    We'll hear the sound
    As you're falling down

    I'm at this old hotel
But can't tell if I've been breathing or sleeping
Or screaming or waiting for the man to call
And maybe all of the above
'Cause mostly I've been sprawled on these cathedral steps
While spitting out the blood and screaming
    Someone save us

    Heaven help us now
    Come crashing down
    We'll hear the sound
    As you're falling down

And will you pray for me?
Or make a saint of me?
And will you lay for me?
    Or make saint?

'Cause I'll give you all the nails you need
    Cover me in gasoline
Wipe away those tears of blood again
And the punchline to the joke is asking
    Someone save us

    Heaven help us now
    Come crashing down
    We'll hear the sound
    As you fall

And would you pray for me?
(You don't know a thing about my sins)
    (How the misery begins)
Or make a saint of me?
    (You don't know)
    (So I'm burning, I'm burning)
And will you lay for me?
(You don't know a thing about my sins)
    (How the misery begins)
    Or make a saint?
    (You don't know)
    ('Cause I'm burning, I'm burning)

'Cause I'll give you all the nails you need
    (I'm burning, I'm burning again)
Cover me in gasoline again Writer/s: BOB BRYAR, FRANK IERO, GERARD WAY, MICHAEL WAY, RAY TORO

  • Tam from UkIt's probably not the intended meaning, but I see this as a song about evil things that used to be excused by religion, and the delusion of some religious people. They're possibly being tortured and executed for their sins ("I'll give you all the nails you need" suggests crucifixion, "cover me in gasoline" and "I'm burning" certainly implies that they're being burned at the stake), perhaps for something harmless. People were very often executed for following the wrong type of christianity in the past. Surely their omnipotent, omniscient, benevolent god can see what's happening and will save them? In the end, despite all the pleading for help and torture, their god doesn't help. He never answers, relieves the pain or stops the torture... because the god is either a monster (hey, this is the same god that commits genocides) or simply does not exist.
  • BellaWhy isn’t this actually on the black parade album ?
  • Hi, My Name Is from Appleton, WiThis is a beautiful song about someone, and quite possibly their family, who knows they need help escaping from some tradgic situation and they don't know what to do anymore, or how to get help, so they turn to the one thing they do know; Their religion, after they find no one else will/wants to help them. (You don't know a thing about my sins, how the misery begins. You don't know, so I'm burning, burning.)
  • Anna from London, United KingdomI alway thought that it was simply about a couple in dire need of help and who are mocking religion, because no matter how many times they pray, they get nothing.
  • Indigo from Adelaide, AustraliaSomeone in a terrible situation, i think they're like homeless or unemployed or something:'Cause mostly I've been sprawled on these cathedral steps
While spitting out the blood and screaming
"Someone save us!" i think its someone who relies on other people and is relying on their religion too much, instead of actually get help. they're asking for help, but don't really know where to get it.
  • Paige from Egg Harbor City, Nji love this songs its one of my favorite songs.! and to me its means someone is asking the heavens for help.
  • Jess from Milton, NhI think this song is about how people put so much stock in their religion, they don't see that people around them can help to.
  • Kasia from London, United KingdomThe song is about people which rely on their religion and how it is ruining their life. Also that they need saving.
  • Gerard from Prince George, BcI like this song...:D.... and i <3 Gee...
