  • I know I stand in line, until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance, I know that theres a chance
You wont be leaving with me

And afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
    Like: I love you

I can see it in your eyes, that you despise the same old lies
    You heard the night before
And though its just a line to you, for me its true
It never seemed so right before

I practice every day to find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
But then I think Ill wait until the evening gets late
    And Im alone with you

The time is right your perfume fills my head, the stars get red
And oh the nights so blue
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
    Like: I love you
(I love you, I love you,...)

  • Ec1983 from UsaFrank Sinatra always reminds me of my gramma Rosemary RIP.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn March 12th 1967, "Somethin' Stupid" by Frank and Nancy Sinatra entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #50; and four weeks later on April 9th, 1967 it peaked at #1 {for 4 weeks*} and spent 13 weeks on the Top 100...
And on March 26th, 1967 it also reached #1 {for 9 weeks} on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
The week it peaked at #1 on the Top 100, Nancy Sinatra had a solo record on the chart, "Love Eyes" was at #29 and the following week it would peak at #15 {for 2 weeks}...
    * The 3rd week "Somethin' Stupid" was at #1, it prevented "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" by the Monkees from reaching #1, it peaked at #2 for 1 week.
  • Ken from Louisville, KyA lot of people thought it was kind of creepy that a father and daughter would sing a duet of a love song. But the intent was to show that the same emotions about romantic love spans generations. The feelings that a young person has (Nancy) were once the same that his/her parents had(Frank).
  • Guy from Woodinville, WaYeah, but what charm! What whimsy! It's always been one of my guilty secret favorites.
  • Mark from London, EnglandThis is a very dodgy song when recorded by family members!
