  • Alone in the clouds all blue
    Lying on an eiderdown
    Yippee, you can't see me
    But I can you

    Lazing in the foggy dew
    Sitting on a unicorn
No fair, you can't hear me
    But I can you

    Watching buttercups cup the light
    Sleeping on a dandelion
Too much, I won't touch you
    But then I might

    Screaming through the starlit sky
    Traveling by telephone
    Hey ho, here we go
    Ever so high

Alone in the clouds all blue
    Lying on an eiderdown
    Yippee, you can't see me
But I can you Writer/s: Syd Barrett

  • Jrbosch from New YorkThis is a fantastic song off the very first pink floyd album
The end of each verse where syd sings" but I can you" brings with it more arangment, more sound and psycedellic imagery until, the third time aound , after the break, it ends in a crescendo with him holding the last vocal line while the whole band play a typical pink floyd type descending chord progression,
Just like the descending chord progressions they've put in dozens of songs after him but heres where it all started folks
It all started with syd and the summer of 1967!
  • Zero from Nowhere, Nj"Lazing in the foggy dew... COO-COO!" Ha ha! 'Luv that part!
  • J from Lx, PortugalIf you listen closely around 2:32 and again at 2:34 you hear the sound of a dog barking.
  • Mreenal from Darjeeling, Indialoved this song since the very first time i heard it..
  • Mreenal from Darjeeling, India@G, Potomac, MD: no, its not buggy-doo.. he's saying 'foggy dew'.. even i used to sing 'boggy-doo' so until i got the lyrics..
  • Oldpink from New Castle, InThis is the song that the ABC "This Week" used for their "In Memoriam" segment about Syd's death.
Very appropriate, and I wept for the loss of the Painter, the Piper, the Prisoner, the Crazy Diamond.
  • G from Potomac, MdWhat the heck is a buggy-doo if that's what he's saying?
  • Francisco from Cudahy, Cayah i sumited the lyrics! love this song but many of my friends dont.
  • Tristan from Philadelphia, PaThis song just carries you away. Very Sgt. Pepper like, but its so much more. Just listening to this song with my eyes close, or open, brings me to another place entirely. If only their could have been more songs like this but alas too many people got in the way.
