  • Remember a day before today
A day when you were young
Free to play alone with time
    Evening never comes
Sing a song that can't be sung
    Without the morning's kiss
Queen, you shall be it if you wish
    Look for your king
    Why can't we play today
Why can't we stay that way

    Climb your favorite apple tree
    Try to catch the sun
Hide from your little brother's gun
    Dream yourself away
Why can't we reach the sun
Why can't we blow the years away
    Blow away
    Blow away

  • Grimtraveller from North West LondonRick Wright was encouraged to write songs by Syd Barrett, Syd saying "if I can write songs, anyone can." This was actually recorded for the debut album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," but was left off it.
It's a beautiful song, though not as beautiful as "See-Saw."
Rick thought both were "atrocious", which only goes to show that the artist is not always the best judge of their work.
  • Randy Leeds from Los AngelesIn a song that I always thought was about idyllic nostalgia we have the chilling line, "hide/from your little brother's gun..." Do you think it's just little kids playing at cops and robbers or something more sinister?
  • Shane from Bloomington-normal, IlMreenal: It wasn't the first RW tune written for PF released by the label. "Paint Box" was pressed in 1967 as the B-side to Syd's "Apples and Oranges"
  • Mreenal from Darjeeling, Indiai'm not sure but i think this was the first Richard Wright's song by Pink Floyd..
  • Mreenal from Darjeeling, Indiabeautiful song.. wonderful drum parts.. n i love the feel n mood of the song esp. the way the late Mr. Richard Wright sings it..
  • Terry from Wickford, RiDavid Gilmour played this live on Jools Holland last year right after Rick died. The first live performance of the song ever...
  • Oldpink from New Castle, InAnother interesing bit of information about this is that Rick composed it in an unusual way, probably the result of Syd's rapid disintegration.
He taped Syd doodling the guitar alone in the studio.
Then, he added that tape to they keyboards, drums, and vocals on the finished product.
This is certainly not Floyd's greatest song, but I still love it, especially when I listen to Syd's strange, trademark squeals and chirps on his Telecaster.
  • Tristan from Philadelphia, PaSaucerful of Secrets is a strange album that reflects a strange time for The Floyd. Syd had left the band during its recording and Gilmour came in. Jugband blues is a great song as is Remember a Day. Barrett actually plays for a very little bit on Set the controls for the heart of the sun which in turn is the only song to feature all five Floydians playing together. The only other song worth listening to in my opinion is the title track which is epically good and the beggining of let there be more light.
  • Adri from Zadar, CroatiaDrums And Backing Vocal Plays Norman Smith Their Producer.During the sessions for the song "Remember a Day", drummer Nick Mason became agitated that he couldn't come up with the right drum part for the song. Smith, however, knew what he wanted with the drums, so he played the part himself.
  • Alex from Fort Mill, ScA Saucerful of Secrets is probably the most obscure, least well known and underrated in the Floyd discography. Its funny I should say that though: this was the second Floyd CD I bought after Dark Side.
