Think I could tell you that first sentence
    But then I'm lost
I can't begin to count the theories
I've had pounded in my head
    That I forgot

I don't remember all that Spanish
    Or the Gettysburg address
But there is one speech from high school
    I'll never forget

Come on in, boy, sit on down
    And tell me 'bout yourself
So you like my daughter, do you now?
Yeah, we think she's something else
    She's her daddy's girl, her mama's world
She deserves respect, that's what she'll get
    Ain't it, son?
Now y'all, run along and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Bet I'll be up all night
    Still cleanin' this gun

Well, now that I'm a father
I'm scared to death one day my daughter is gonna find
That teenage boy I used to be
That seems to have just one thing on his mind
    She's growin' up so fast
    It won't be long before
Yeah, I'll have to put the fear of God into
    Some kid at the door

Yeah, come on in, boy, sit on down
    And tell me 'bout yourself
So you like my daughter, do you now?
Yeah, we think she's something else
    She's her daddy's girl, her mama's world
She deserves respect, that's what she'll get
    Now ain't it, son?
Now y'all, run along and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
    Probably be up all night
    Still cleanin' this gun

    Now it's all for show
    Ain't nobody gonna get hurt
    It's just a daddy thing
And, hey, believe me, man it works

Yeah, come on in, boy, sit on down
    And tell me 'bout yourself
So you like my daughter, do you now?
Yeah, we think she's something else
    She's her daddy's girl, her mama's world
She deserves respect, that's what she'll get
    Ain't it, son?
Y'all, run along and have some fun
And I'll see you when you get back
    Probably be up all night
    Still cleanin' this gun

Ah, son, now y'all buckle up and have her back by ten
    Uh, let's say about 9:30

  • Karen from Manchester, NhMy husband and I have 2 daughters; needless to say, this is one of my husband's favorite songs.
  • Kaylen from Lagrange , Ini love this song... but it Relates to my g-pa so much... i live with my g-parents and they dont let me do anything im not aloud to step outside without them knowing where im going... theres times when ill go to get on the bus and they'll ask me where im going... so when i want a bf to come over they have to know EVERY THING about them... out of all my bf's that ive had they've only liked one of them and that was becasue he was going to tutor me... ive had one bf that was APPSOLUTLY scared of my g-pa... i had to break up with him bc he wouldnt come any where near me when my g-pa was around... so that one was out of the question... Ohhh i forgot i had another one that they liked only bc he didnt know anything about sex AND he was two years younger than me. i broke up with him bc he was to childish... all he wanted to do when i was at his house was play with blocks. and play with toys... he still had his baby blanket, Pillow, and toy... Thats when i decided that im gonna stick with older boys instead... but yah anyways this song reminds me of my g-pa ALOT... to much really... LOL... Well See yah
  • Marissa from Akron, OhI was in an on-and-off relationship with this guy at college and he wanted to move a lot faster than I did. I told him "I gotta warn you, my dad has a gun and anger management issues." That kept him in line!
  • Olivia from Chicago, IlI like this song's melody but i think the lyrics don't do it justice
