  • Now there's a backseat, lover
    That's always undercover
And I talk 'til my daddy say
    Said, "you ain't seen, nothin'
'Til you're down on the muffin
And there's sure to be a change in ways"
    Now there's a cheerleader
    That's a real big pleaser
As far as I can reminisce
And the best thing of loving
Was her sister and her cousin
And it started with a little kiss, like this

    See-saw swingin'
    With the boys in school
And her feet was flyin' up in the air
Singin', "Hey diddle diddle with a kitty in the middle"
And they swingin' like it just don't care
So I took a big chance
    At the high school dance
With a lady who was ready to play
It wasn't me she was foolin'
'Cause she knew what was she was doin'
When she told me how to walk this way

    She told me to
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!

    She told me to
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!

    Well, just gimme a kiss!
    Ooh, a-like this!

    School girl sleazy
With a classy kind of sassy
Little skirt hangin' way up her knee
    There were three young ladies
    In the school gym locker
And they find they were lookin' at D
    I was high school loser
Never made it with a lady
'Til the boys told me somethin' I missed
    That my next door neighbor
Had a daughter, had a favor
And I gave the girl a little kiss, like this

    See-saw swingin'
    With the boys in school
With your feet was flyin' up in the air
Singin', "Hey diddle diddle with a kitty in the middle"
    I was swingin' like I didn't care
So I took a big chance
    At the high school dance
With a missy who was ready to play
It wasn't me she was foolin'
When she knew what was she was doin'
When she told me how to walk this way

    She told me to
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!

    She told me to
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!
    Walk this way!
    Talk this way!

  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn this day in 1986 {September 6th} a video of "Walk This Way" by Run-D.M.C. with Aerosmith was aired on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
At the time "Walk This Way" was at position #10 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, three weeks later it would peak at #4 {for 1 week} and it spent sixteen weeks on the Top 100...
It reached #8 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart...
Between 1983 and 1998 the New York City group had twenty two records on the Hot R&B Singles chart, four* made the Top 10...
Besides the above "Walk This Way", their three other Top 10 records were "Adidas" {#5 in 1986}, "Run's House" {#10 in 1988}, and "Down With The King" {#9 in 1993}...

    May he R.I.P.
    * They just missed having a fifth Top 10 record when their "Hard Times" peaked at #11 in 1984...
  • Melinda from AustraliaChris. You are probably right there. And I do remember as a young person being shocked by this hip hop song blended together with Aerosmith. White Metal. Pretty sure it had never been done before. We were like, WTF. But it was so good. My friends and I loved it. Happy memories of dancin to it.
  • Chris from Vancouver, BcI don't know if this is a glaring indictment of American sociology, but r&b and rock needed a white face in Elvis to wake people up to real music, and rap needed a white face in Steven Tyler to wake people up to hip hop.
  • Rain from Clinton, MdNot a big fan of Run DMC but I do like this song probably because I'm a huge Aerosmith fan. This song was a great opportunity to introduce rap to a wider community and reinvigorate Aerosmith's popularity. This would probably make for a great film!
  • Grace from Conway, Arrun-dmc introduced me to aerosmith. i'd only see the latter on a music mag cover when i was a teen (i still have it -- scary).
  • J from Norfolk, Vaoh my god why r there so many comments 4 the other version of this song but only 1 im writing 4 this 1
