  • Driving down an endless road
    Taking friends or moving alone
Pleasure at the fairground on the way
It's always friends that feel so good
Let's make amends like all good men should
Pleasure at the fairground on the way
Walk around, be free and roam
    There's always someone leaving alone
Pleasure at the fairground on the way

And I love the thought of coming home to you
Even if I know we can't make it
Yes, I love the thought of giving hope to you
Just a little ray of light shining through

Love can bend and breathe alone
Until the end it finds you a home
Don't care what the people may say
It's always friends that feel so good
Let's make amends like all good men should
Pleasure at the fairground on the way

And I love the thought of coming home to you
Even if I know we can't make it
Yes, I love the thought of giving hope to you
Just a little ray of light shining through
And I love the thought of coming home to you
Even if I know we can't make it
Yes, I love the thought of giving hope to you
Just a little ray of light shining through

Pleasure at the fairground on the way

And I love the thought of coming home to you
Even if I know we can't make it
Yes, I love the thought of giving hope to you
Just a little ray of light shining through
And I love the thought of coming home to you
Even if I know we can't make it
Yes, I love the thought of giving hope to you
Just a little ray of light shining through

    Love the thought
Even if I know we can't make it

  • The Dude from NycJason, Simply Red sings, "Even if I know we can't make it" It is a story about a doomed, self destructive relationship because the partner suffers from emotional distress and insecurity. He realizes this, yet relishes every moment with his partner so much that his spirts are uplifted by the very thought he'll soon return to her. To give hope to his partner that she can overcome her anxiety and reciprocate love and security. Even in the darkest of time he finds solace and pleasure with friends. It is a tragic love story.
  • Jason Ford from CaliforniaWhy does he sing that he "loves the thought of coming home to you, even if we CAN make it"? Makes no sense.
  • Jennifer from Indianapolis, InLOVE LOVE LOVE this song. I first heard it when I was traveling in the UK in 1995 and immediately bought the CD as soon as I returned home. The whole CD is awesome.
