  • Sure is mellow grazin' in the grass
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
What a trip just watchin' as the world goes past
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
There are so many groovy things to see while grazin' in the grass
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
Flowers with colours bright, makin', everything outta sight
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)

The sun beamin' out between the leaves
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
And the birds dartin' in and out of the trees
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)

Everything here is so clear, you can see it
And everything here is so real, you can feel it
And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real
    Can you dig it?

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it,
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it. Can you dig it, baby?
I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby?

The sun peekin' out between the leaves

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it,
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it. Come on dig it for me baby!
I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby?

  • Rc from L.a.This is the closest to accurate lyrics on the web. Most sites mess up “there are so many groovy things to see”, and they mess up “Flowers with colors bright, making everything outta sight”. However, in the Friends of Distinction version, I’ve never heard the word “peeking”. The line in both refrains is “Sun beaming down between the leaves”.
  • Dan S from PennsylvaniaI was today years old when I realized they were saying “Grazin in the grass” is a gas baby can you dig it and NOT “Kissin in the backseat”. You can see where my head has been at the last few decades ;-)
  • Lcmemusic from VaIt's "Grazing in the grass is a GAS", not "a yes". It has to do with the language of the day, to wit, I was 11 years old the year this song was released, and I was hip to all the slang of the day. I used it myself at times. But, this is one song that, when it came on the radio, I would stop what ever I was doing and listen intently. Please change it. This is the closest lyric to being correct that I've found, and there is only this one discrepancy. So, to whoever posted this I give you thumbs up, but if you want it be perfect, change it to say "a gas".
  • Mavis from Upper Great LakesThe ultimate spring tune! It was popular the month I graduated from high school. Freedom! Can you dig it?
