Wrong Train

  • I took the wrong train
    Ate all the wrong pills
    I took a cell phone
    To call my voice mail

    I took the wrong train
    Got off the wrong town
    They beat their kids up
    Somewhere suburban

And I'm never coming home again
    We can't agree on anything
And where the hell are all my friends?
    I need you right now

    I ran the wrong light
    Got in a car crash
    A wife that hates me
    So does her boyfriend

Well, I'm never coming home again
    We can't agree on anything
And where the hell are all my friends?
    I need you right now

    I took the wrong train
    Got off the wrong town
    They beat their kids up
    Somewhere suburban

    I'm never coming home again
    We can't agree on anything
And where the hell are all my friends?
    I need you

    I'm never coming home again
    We can't agree on anything
And where the hell are all my friends?
    I need you right now

Tell me things you used to do
    I'll pretend you wanted to
We wear these little things away and

  • Dave Sullivan from Los AngelesThis is my favorite song off of Made of Rain, and I was wondering how the Furs managed to already have live footage of them playing it 10 years ago. I thought, maybe they discovered a time machine. They sound great playing it live, here is a recent show Aug 14, 2022 , https://youtu.be/e7kNQg-7oDA
  • Susan from ChicagoJust heard this song for the first time on one of my Spotify Daily Mix playlists. I recognized Richard Butler's voice immediately. Always loved Psychedelic Furs and especially his voice. When I was in college I ran hospitality for one of their shows when they visited our campus in '87. It was eye-opening for sure (one word: Darcy). He and John Ashton were the only friendly ones in the bunch, although he kept mostly to himself. I can easily see the autobiographical flashes in this song. Glad I stumbled upon this one...love it.
  • Ken from Austria Thx so much for the backstory. The song is brilliant, albeit a bit sad. Anyhow, your explanation is really helpful to understand the song better.
