  • There you were
    Standing there
As your eyes reached out to me
    Something warm in your eyes
Touched my heart right then and there
All the love I never knew
    I found in you

    Suddenly
    My world stood still
    My life was then fulfilled
As you gently touched my hand
I knew that we had laying a plan
    For everlasting love
That I been forever dreaming of

    At last, oo
    At last
My forever came today (my forever came today)
When you walked into my life (when you walked into my life)
    And made my lonely life
    A paradise (a paradise)
    It came today
    Forever came today

    As we were standing there
You didn't speak a single word
    But your eyes
Your eyes said you wanted me
Your touch said you needed me
    And my heart said tenderly

    Darling, oo
    My darling
    Make me yours
Let your kiss touch my face
And tell me love has led me
To this place to your warm embrace
    And our happiness

Thanks to you my search has ended
And I want the world to see
How gently love has shined on me
    With everlasting love
That I been forever dreaming of

    At last, oo
    At last
My forever came today (my forever came today)
When you walked into my life (when you walked into my life)
    And made my lonely life
    A paradise (a paradise)
    It came today
    Forever came today

    At last, oo
    At last
My forever came today (my forever came today)
When you walked into my life (when you walked into my life)
    And made my lonely life
    A paradise (a paradise)
    Oh it came today
    Forever came today

    At last
    At last
My forever came today (my forever came today)

  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn March 24th 1968, Diana Ross and the Supremes performed "Forever Came Today" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'...
At the time the song was at #44 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; four weeks later on April 21st, 1968 it would peak at #28 {for 2 weeks} and spent 9 weeks on the Top 100...
On March 15th, 1964 their record "Run Run Run" was at #93 and that was also its last day on the Top 100; then the trio's legend began, for their next fifteen releases would all make Billboard's Top 10, and ten of them would reach #1, with "Reflections" just missed being their eleventh #1, for it peak at #2...
"Forever Came Today" broke the string of Top 10 records, they did have two more #1 records, that gave them a total of twelve*...
    * They rank second among groups with the most #1 records, only the Beatles' twenty #1s are ahead of them.
  • Buddah from New York, NyThis was the first Supremes song since "Where Did Our Love Go" not to make the Top 10. It was probably too sophisticated, but definitely one of H-D-H's best productions.
  • Kristin from Bessemer, AlAfter Florence Ballard left Motown for ABC records, there was a stipulation in her release from Motown that she could NEVER mention the fact that she was ever a member of the Supremes, nor could she be promoted as being an ex-member. Her press bio from ABC only mentioned that she was a member of one of the world's greatest singing trios.
  • Kristin from Bessemer, AlEven though this is the last single that Florence Ballard appears on, after its release, Diana Ross only recorded with in-house vocalists, namely The Andantes, and their singles (beginning with "Reflections") were released as by "Diana Ross and The Supremes".
  • Kristin from Bessemer, AlOn the date this single was released- February 29, 1968 - original Supreme Florence Ballard married ex-Motown chauffeur Tommy Chapman in Hawaii- Flo later signed with ABC Records and released two singles, which were not successful - she was dropped from the label immediately.
  • Danielle from Maplewood, NjThe Jackson 5 covered this 1975. I like their version too.
  • Brian from Sheffield, EnglandA tremendously underrated and underappreciated song, both in 1968 and now. A grand and fitting finale to the brilliant partnership of The Supremes and Holland/Dozier/Holland.
