  • Oh don't it hurt deep inside
To see someone do something to her
Oh don't it pain to see someone cry
How especially if that someone is her

    Silence is golden
    But my eyes still see
    Silence is golden, golden
    But my eyes still see

Talking is cheap people follow like sheep
Even though there is no where to go
How could she tell he deceived her so well
Pity she'll be the last one to know

    Silence is golden
    But my eyes still see
    Silence is golden, golden
    But my eyes still see

How many times will she fall for his lines
Should I tell her or should I be cool
And if I tried I know she'd say I lied
Mind your business don't hurt her you fool

    Silence is golden
    But my eyes still see
    Silence is golden, golden
    But my eyes still see
    But my eyes still see
But my eyes still see Writer/s: Bob Crewe, Bob Gaudio

  • Trackerdan from CarmichaelThis song has been around forever, it seems to have come out about the same time as all the other psychedelic music of the time was ramping up big time. It has been played for generations. I always remember hearing it and it was probably the the first rock song where I actually took the time to listen to all the lyrics. I found that uncomfortable due to the way I interpreted the lyrics. It seemed very personal with a tinge of tragedy. The Capella singing is outstanding!

  • Martin from Fresno, CaI remember hearing the four seasons version once when I was a kid.I think it played for a few times on the radio.
  • Peter Steele from Medicine Hat Ab, AbThe lyrics are hauntingly truthful to many people who have experienced a situation like the one described in this song...the rhymes are amazing and the words easy to sing along to, and to recall because of its pace...the high pitch tones of the voices are fantastic and the unison of the singers is wonderful....no doubt that this song rates as a true timeless classic
  • Peter Steele from Medicine Hat Ab, AbThis is my number 2 favorite song of all time behind I'll Never Find Another You by the Seekers...the melody is an incredible invention of sound and the high notes are virtually unrivalled or at least hard to find a song whose notes succeed it on the pitch levels..a sad song but a great one nonetheless!
