  • Every town I go, there's a street, uh, ah
Name of the street, ah, funky, funky Broadway
Down on Broadway, uh there's a nightclub
Now, now, name of the nightclub, now baby, funky, funky Broadway
Down on Broadway, there's a crowd, now, ah
Name of the crowd, baby, Broadway crowd
Down on Broadway, yeah, there's a dance, yeah, ah
Name of the dance, funky, funky, Broadway, hey, huh

Wiggle your legs now, baby, shake your head up, uh, ah
Do the shing-a-ling now, baby, shake-shake-shake, now
You don't know, baby, you don't know now, woman, ow
    Do the funky Broadway, ah
    Lord have mercy

Oh, you got me feeling all right

    Dirty filthy Broadway
    don't I like Broadway? Uh
    Now, Broadway, look here
Down on Broadway, there's a woman
Name of the woman, ah, Broadway woman, hey
Down on Broadway, yeah, there's a man, ah
Name of the man, now, now, now, now, now, now Writer/s: Arlester Christian

  • Bob from Orchard Park, NyThe street also refers to Buffalo, NY as per "WIKIPEDIA" {The "Broadway" referred to in the title is the original Dyke and the Blazers song is Broadway in Buffalo, NY, not the famous Broadway in New York City}. And yes there is a "Broadway in Phoenix, AZ also but Dyke was from "Buffalo, NY" and grew up not far from "Broadway" in the city.
  • Camille from Toronto, OhThis song was great, hey, they never play this on the oldies radio stations but they should. Definitely a funky song with a great sound. Don't care for this live version posted here on Songfacts, I like the sharper sounding recording of the song.
