Real Band or Made For A Movie

by Amanda Flinner

Fictional bands created for movies can be quite convincing. Sometimes, they're so good in the movie they become real. For instance, Otis Day And The Knights, the made-up band that got the party going in Animal House with their ribald rendition of "Shout," went on the road as the self-proclaimed "#1 Party Band in America," fronted by DeWayne Jessie, who played Otis Day in the film. They played lots of college bars and even released an album.

Here, we name a band and you tell us if it was always real or if it was fabricated for a movie. Not all of the real bands are still active, and some of the fake bands were played by real musicians.
