Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single from Colorado electronic duo 3OH!3's third studio album, titled Streets of Gold. The song features pop singer Kesha.
  • The song was debuted on the band's website at 3:03 PM EST on May 3 2010.
  • 3OH!3's Sean Foreman told MTV News: "The song is about a girl you really like, and the story line of going through your first kiss with a girl to exploring further parts of the relationship."
  • Foreman told MTV News about the song's music video: "The video is a play on kissing in general, and lips, and getting close up to a bunch of lips, and people coming out of mouths and just, like, really cool transitions."
  • The 3Oh!3 duo also collaborated with Kesha on her hit single "Blah Blah Blah." This song was recorded first and was actually the backdrop for the first meeting between them. Foreman told MTV news how he and bandmate Nathaniel Motte were first introduced to the "TiK ToK" singer. He recalled: "We were working with our buddy Benny Blanco and Dr. Luke [on 'Kiss'], and we had a line for the song. It's kind of a call and response, and Luke's like, 'I know this girl.' We worked with her and we got a friendship since then."
  • Foreman discussed working with Kesha in an interview with UK's Channel 4 TV station: "What basically happened was, about two years ago, we were working on My First Kiss. I wrote the first tag line and we thought it would be cool if it was a guy and a girl response. The producer was working with Kesha at the time and brought it in. She was a little bit overly aggressive and a little bit crazy. For me, she's cool and she came straight from dodgeball practice and I just thought she was a kooky girl living in LA. But then her career jumped off and it's crazy listening to her music. Basically, the production and songs are her style. She asked us to work on Blah Blah Blah and it's been a good relationship. Whenever she's around, we hang out and it's cool to see her work."
