Songfacts®:

  • PJ Proby is an American singer who enjoyed some success in the mid 1960s after being introduced by TV producer Jack Good to British audiences in the television special Around the Beatles. By the time Proby came to record the album Three Week Hero in September 1968, his career had lost momentum. A combination of vaguely bluesy and country-ish rock and dramatic pop, the singer utilized The New Yardbirds, later to become Led Zeppelin, as his backing band. While it did not succeed commercially, it is best remembered today as the first time Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones all recorded together in the studio.
