  • During his time in Kiss, Ace Frehley was the Spaceman, with stars in his eyes. He drew on the celestial theme for this song, which he wrote with Steve Brown of Trixter, his main collaborator on his solo album 10,000 Volts.

"'Walkin' On The Moon' was actually the first song that I worked on with Steve," Frehley told Songfacts. "He sent me the song and there was a line in the chorus that said 'Walkin' on the moon,' but it didn't end the chorus. I said, 'Steve, this song has to be called 'Walkin' On The Moon' because it's me – the Spaceman, walking on the moon.'

The next thing you know, he came over my house and we rearranged all the lyrics. I added a bridge. He says, 'It doesn't need a bridge.' I go, 'Yes, it does.' So, I wrote a bridge. He was overjoyed with that – it took the song to another level."
  • Frehley, both with Kiss and as a solo artist, often did songs about girls and guitars. This one fits in the "girls" category, with him singing about a woman who makes him feel like he's walking on the moon. At the time, he was engaged to be married to his girlfriend Lana.
  • The song's music video was filmed in January 2024 with Wreck'd Productions at the company's studio in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Alex Kouvatsos from Black Wolf Imaging directed the visual.
