Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from Blood, Sweat & Tears, the third studio album by American rapper Antoine McColister, who records under the name of Ace Hood. He explained to The Boombox the record is "telling the struggle, what's really going on in the streets."
  • Before recording Blood, Sweat & Tears, McColister took a year off from the music industry, having endured a lot of grief. This included the death of a close friend. He told The Boombox: "I got a record on this album called 'Memory Lane' reminiscing on the times we [my deceased friend] did kick it, to the times in which I got the call and the incident actually went down. 'Memory Lane' is one of my favorite songs on that album, I wanted to put that down because it's special to me."
  • The song was co-written by and features the vocals of R&B songwriter Kevin Cossom, whose previous writing credits include Keri Hilson's "Knock You Down'" and Rick Ross's "Speedin'."
