Songfacts®:

  • "On My Mind" is about the push and pull of lingering emotions following a breakup. South Korean singer Rosé joins Alex Warren to explore that all-too-familiar tug-of-war between trying to move on and still quietly checking your phone at 2 a.m., just in case.
  • Musically, "On My Mind" stays firmly rooted in the indie folk-pop-rock soil Warren's fans have come to expect: rhythmic acoustic guitar, horns, kick drums and emotionally vulnerable lyrics. But Rosé's addition brings a fresh texture to the sound as her clear, high tone contrasts with Warren's deep, slightly raspy vocals.
  • "On My Mind" was written by Warren, Rosé, Eskeerdo, John Ryan, and Ammo, with Ryan and Ammo also credited as producers.

Eskeerdo, John Ryan, and Ammo are all prolific songwriters and producers with extensive credits in the pop and contemporary music industry. They have previously collaborated on several songs, often as part of larger songwriting teams for major artists, including teaming up with JKash, Julian Bunetta, Thomas Rhett, and Zai to write "Beautiful As You" by Thomas Rhett.
  • The Colin Tilley-directed video uses a dollhouse as a central visual metaphor. We see Alex Warren peering into the dollhouse, and as the camera zooms in, viewers see Rosé inside, creating the illusion of two worlds connected yet separate. Even though Warren and Rosé filmed their scenes separately, creative editing and set design make it appear as if they inhabit the same emotional landscape.
