Songfacts®:

  • Alice In Chains close their Rainier Fog album with this seven-minute hard-rocking epic in which guitarist/singer Jerry Cantrell looks back at all that he's been through and wonders what it all means.

    Have another go my friend
You see I can't feel anymore
While you question just who the hell am I

Cantrell explained to Rolling Stone that he was "thinking about the imagery of an old boxer or old soldier" who had been though numerous battles, "and all of the scars you obtain through life, all the triumphs, all of the falls."

He added: "Multiple times in your life, you come to points where you question your faith or just assess. It's a character questioning, 'Is this all I am?'"
