Songfacts®:

  • Allison Moorer has a close bond with her older sister Shelby Lynne. In 1986 the sisters were left with just each other after their father murdered their mother in the driveway of their home and then killed himself. The two teenagers were orphaned and sent to live with relatives. Moorer penned this song about their relationship. "It's about loving someone unconditionally," she said, "and always having your arms open to them no matter what."
